Muskingum County Community Foundation

Community Program

As an important piece of our community, the Muskingum County Community Foundation (MCCF) has established numerous efforts to encourage Muskingum County residents to be the best we can be. With philanthropic endeavors, scholarships, funds, and community events, MCCF has spent decades guiding our county into a bright future.

History

Created in 1985 by a few members of the Zanesville Development Corporation, MCCF was born from the belief that a community foundation could help further improve life around Zanesville.

Though it was originally called the Zanesville Foundation, in 1988 the founders decided to expand their mission to encompass all of Muskingum County. These founders were simply a group of community members who believed in the strength of our community and wanted to give back.

Since then, MCCF has established numerous funds, events, and more that help promote all kinds of growth. Their vision of fostering opportunities through collaboration and philanthropy is clear in their every action.

Serving Muskingum County

Donations

MCCF has done and continues to do a lot for our community. From their work with students and businesses across the county to the numerous community funds and events they’ve established, MCCF works hard for every one of us. Additionally, in the years since it was founded, MCCF has awarded more than $8 million to charities across our area.

With the help of Muskingum County community members who donate, MCCF has been able to focus on developing the four cornerstones of our community: education, arts and culture, wellness and recreation, and economic vitality.

In addition, through their annual grant seekers program, MCCF distributes grants to local organizations with a shared vision to nurture the four cornerstones of our community. Previous winners have earned grant money to be put toward such worthwhile endeavors as promoting theatre arts, supporting youth programs, and even food and transportation services for low-income families.

Assistance for Students

Since 2000, MCCF has placed a primary focus on improving education. With college nights, scholarship sessions, financial aid opportunities, and more, they’ve worked to set up a one-stop shop for parents and students seeking higher education.

When your student is trying to decide which college is right for them, attend a College Night to find out about all kinds of opportunities. If you need help applying for financial aid, find out when the next FAFSA Help Night is.

MCCF will even work to connect students with scholarships to make sure they have access to the kind of education they’re looking for. With their extensive list of scholarships, there’s most certainly something your student will qualify for.

Even at the elementary level, MCCF has been working to make education a priority in every person’s life. For example, they’ve been working with the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to ensure every student enters kindergarten with the tools they’ll need to succeed.
