Animal Shelter Society

Animal Shelter Society

For many years, the Animal Shelter Society has been a pillar of our community. From caring for animals that would otherwise be on the street to helping them find a new home with other community members, the work done at this shelter is essential.

A Paw-sitive Impact

Adopt a Cat or DogSince it was founded in 1959, the Animal Shelter Society has been giving homeless animals a second chance at a happy life. They are publicly funded by grants and the charity of community members who donate or utilize their available services.

Whether a pet was abandoned or voluntarily surrendered, they will be cared for by the shelter until they are placed in a loving home. In fact, they are so successful with this that in 2019 they had an adoption rate of 99.1%.

When looking to adopt a cat or dog to add to your family, know that adopting from the shelter will do more than just help one animal. It will help the shelter continue making a paw-sitive impact in our community.

Adopt Don’t Shop

Animal Shelter Society AdoptionThe main philosophy behind the shelter is Adopt, Don’t Shop. While it’s always a joy to become a new pet owner, adopting pets already in need of a home, rather than buying one, is an excellent way to give an animal a chance at a better life.

Plus, while you fall in love with the furry friend you decide to bring home, your support helps the shelter continue helping animals in need. Since all their pets are spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations, you won’t have any additional concerns after you bring them home.

The shelter even has online adoption, so nothing can stand between you and your new pet. Through their website, you can see which pets are currently in the shelter and apply to adopt the one you want. Then, they will do a background check and set up a meet and greet to make sure you are a good fit together.

For Pet Owners

Wellness ClinicWhether you adopted with them or already have a pet, the shelter has all kinds of services to assist pets and their owners.

With their Wellness Clinic and spay and neuter services, they make it easy to care for your pet. From regular vaccinations and wellness visits to microchipping and nail trims, they offer low-cost pricing to ensure every pet stays healthy and cared for.

If you’ve lost a pet, let them know, and they can keep an eye out to see if it has been brought into the shelter.

Are you no longer able to keep your pet? Sometimes circumstances are beyond our control, but that’s why they have free surrender services.

They also promote public education to teach people about the prevention of animal cruelty and the importance of spaying and neutering your pets.
